Clinical trials training programs graduate and postdoctoral trainees awards BC 2024.

Previous clinical trials training awardees: Simran Gill (CANTRAIN), Nárlon Boa Sorte Silva (StrokeCog).

Graduate and postdoctoral trainees in BC are eligible now to apply for clinical trials training awards. Through these awards, they will hone their skills and develop competencies in designing, leading and working in clinical trial research.

Michael Smith Health Research BC is partnering with four Canadian Institutes of Health Research-funded clinical trials training platforms (CTTP) on their 2024 awards competitions. The awards include master’s and doctoral studentships and postdoctoral fellowships.

In 2023, Health Research BC helped fund 21 graduate and postdoctoral trainees, demonstrating our role in ensuring clinical trial excellence in the province.

Clinical trials are important for health. They help researchers assess if new drugs, treatments, medical devices and therapies are safe and effective. But there is a critical need right now to train and mentor clinical researchers, trialists, professionals and students to conduct high-quality clinical trials.

Health Research BC is meeting this need by partnering with the CTTPs — Canadian Consortium of Clinical Trial Training (CANTRAIN), Canadian Training Platform for Trials Leveraging Existing Networks (CAN-TAP-TALENT), Canadian Behavioural Intervention and Trials Network (CBITN), and Post-Stroke Cognition Research Group (StrokeCog) — to increase clinical trials expertise and build capacity in BC and across Canada.

Our Clinical Trials BC team plays an instrumental part in developing CANTRAIN’s national training platform, content and evaluation. Together with the CTTPs, we’re creating a diverse, skilled research talent pool and moving forward BC’s vision for a robust clinical trial ecosystem.

The application deadline for the graduate studentships and postdoctoral fellowships is May 31, 2024. For award and application details, including an information video, visit our funding page.
