Dr. Jonathan Little is Professor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna, BC, Canada. A former Michael Smith Scholar Award recipient (2017-2022), his research focuses on optimizing diet and exercise interventions for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. He has published over 180 peer- reviewed journal articles in the areas of exercise metabolism, nutrition, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and immunology. Ongoing research in his lab includes clinical trials and translational studies in humans to determine how application of different nutrition and exercise strategies impact glucose control, cardiometabolic health, and inflammation. Of particular interest is understanding how lifestyle interventions can help people with type 2 diabetes reduce their need for medications, and potentially put type 2 diabetes into remission. He was a member of the writing group for the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines new chapter on Remission of Type 2 Diabetes.
