Eric Eyolfson

Dr. Eric Eyolfson is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Victoria. Eric received his PhD from the University of Calgary in 2022 under the supervision of Dr. Richelle Mychasiuk and Dr. Alexander Lohman. His research investigated the factors contributing to the heterogeneity of outcomes following repetitive mild traumatic brain injury. Importantly, Eric’s pre-clinical research incorporated two typically underrepresented groups, females and adolescents.

In 2022, Eric began his postdoctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Brian Christie. Using a multifaceted approach his project will quantify the behavioural, neuroinflammatory, and microvascular response to adolescent repetitive mild traumatic brain injury. Specifically, his research will probe the immediate and chronic impact on microglia and their influence on neural circuitry.
