Research Trainee 2024 competition: call for applications

16 November 2023

Michael Smith Health Research BC’s Research Trainee 2024 competition is now open to applications.

The Research Trainee program supports health researchers in the training phase of their research career to build capacity and contribute to the success of BC’s health research landscape. The award provides post-doctoral fellows or health professional researchers with salary support for dedicated research activities.

Health Research BC recognizes that supporting BC’s next generation of health researchers is fundamental to the ongoing improvement of health outcomes for British Columbians. As BC’s health research agency, this demonstrates our continued commitment to building research talent for BC’s future.

All competition details, eligibility requirements, and information on how to apply can be found on the Research Trainee program webpage. Applicants are encouraged to register and attend the applicant information webinar on November 22, 2023 at 10am.

We also recently announced an increase to the annual Research Trainee award from $45,000 to $60,000 – the second increase for research trainees in three years. This much needed support for post-doctoral researchers and graduate students is leading the way among provincial and national funders in the health research system.
