Dr. Jin received her PhD from a joint program between the National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing, and the Beijing Normal University, specializing in adult stem cell biology and cancer biology. Her doctoral research unveiled novel mechanisms of transcriptional regulation in intestinal and germline stem cells during normal tissue turnover and tumorigenesis.
In late 2022, she joined the University of British Columbia and the BC Cancer Research Centre. By 2024, Dr. Jin was recognized as the BC Cancer postdoctoral Rising Star. Under the guidance of Dr. Vu, she focuses on RNA biology and the post-transcriptional regulation of normal hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia. Her project aims to identify and elucidate the roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that specifically regulate the cell fate commitment of leukemia cells, thereby identifying promising novel therapeutic targets for treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Her overarching research goal is to enhance AML treatment strategies, and improve patient outcomes by strategically targeting these RNA molecules and their regulatory networks.
