Yusi Miao

Dr. Yusi Miao is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver General Hospital Eye Care Centre. He earned his phD at the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic and the University of California, Irvine with his thesis focusing on the clinical translation of endoscopic optical coherence tomography (OCT).

His research interests revolve around in vivo functional retinal imaging and the development of high-resolution optical imaging techniques. Currently, he is developing a novel multi-functional polarization-sensitive OCT that can detect molecular-specific changes in the retina from live patients in addition to the morphological and vascular features, which could provide diagnostic clues that may not be amenable to current ocular imaging tools.
