Valentin Jaumouillé

Dr. Valentin Jaumouillé is an assistant professor at Simon Fraser University, in the department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. He is conducting a multidisciplinary research program at the interface of immunology, cell biology, and biophysics, with a strong emphasis on quantitative live cell imaging.

Originally trained as a microbiologist at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, he decided to focus on innate immunity in the lab of Dr. Sergio Grinstein, at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he studied molecular dynamics and activation mechanisms of immunoreceptors. Dr. Jaumouillé then joined the laboratory of Dr. Clare Waterman at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda MD, USA, where he revealed the role of mechanical forces in integrin-mediated phagocytosis by macrophages.

Dr. Jaumouillé’s group investigates the biophysical mechanisms involved during interactions between innate immune cells and cancer cells.
