Dr. Taru Manyanga is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia. He is also affiliated with the Department of Physical Theral at The University of British Columbia. Taru’s research combines clinical and epidemiological/population health approaches in developing and implementing lifestyle behavior interventions to promote active healthy living among children and youth, and across the life-course. Taru’s research also explores inequities in opportunities for physical activity participation related to marginalization, sociodemographic, geographical, other factors, and implications for potential disparities in health outcomes.
Taru is a registered physical therapist in BC with clinical experience spanning private practice, in-patient and community physical therapy. Taru completed an MSC in Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa.
Taru is involved in several collaborative interdisciplinary research focusing on the promotion of child and youth physical activity and health in Canada and internationally.
