Tao Huan

Dr. Tao Huan is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of British Columbia. He holds affiliations with various institutions, including UBC Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, UBC Cluster for Microplastics, Health and the Environment, as well as The Metabolomics Innovation Centre (TMIC), Canada’s premier metabolomics research and service network. Dr. Huan received his Ph.D. degree (2015) in analytical chemistry from the University of Alberta and postdoctoral training at Scripps Research (La Jolla, CA) . He joined the University of British Columbia (UBC) in July 2018 with a research focus on the synergistic development of analytical chemistry and bioinformatics in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and its applications in biological and environmental investigations. Dr. Huan has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and has been cited over 3300 times with an h-index of 30. He is the recipient of the 2022 Metabolomics Society of North America Early Career Rising Star Award and was recognized as the 2021 Emerging Investigator by the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.
