Dr. Stephen Milne is a respiratory and sleep medicine specialist with clinical and research expertise in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). After completing his medical training, Stephen underwent postgraduate research training (PhD) at the University of Sydney, Australia, where he investigated novel methods for measuring lung physiology.
He commenced postdoctoral research training at the UBC Centre for Heart Lung Innovation in 2019 under the mentorship of Dr. Don Sin (supervisor) and Dr. Janice Leung (co-supervisor). Using multi-omics technologies, his research program aims to discover novel biomarkers for clinical outcomes in COPD by interrogating lung/airway specimens as well as large-scale clinical data sets.
In addition to research, Stephen is passionate about teaching and mentorship, and is an enthusiastic contributor to the international scientific community through committee memberships as well as journal, conference, and research funding peer review.
