Ross Jones

Dr. Ross D. Jones is a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Peter Zandstra’s Stem Cell Bioengineering Lab in UBC’s School of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on applying principles from synthetic biology and control theory to program the development of pluripotent stem cells into immune cells in vitro. Ross completed his Bachelor’s at UW Seattle, where he worked in the labs of Narendra P. Singh and Hannele Ruohola-Baker. He earned his PhD at MIT, working under both Professors Ron Weiss and Domitilla Del Vecchio. In his thesis work, Ross studied how competition for transcriptional ‘resources’ affects the gene expression in mammalian cells, and applied control theory principles to improve the performance of genetic circuits in varying intracellular contexts.
