Dr. Rachel Eddy is a postdoctoral fellow at the UBC Centre for Heart Lung Innovation and Division of Respiratory Medicine working with Drs. Don Sin and Jonathon Leipsic. She is also jointly appointed at the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute working with Dr. Jonathan Rayment. Dr. Eddy is a biomedical engineer by undergraduate training and completed her PhD in 2020 in Medical Biophysics at the University of Western Ontario. Her research has focused on developing and applying novel pulmonary imaging tools to better understand the pathophysiology of lung disease such as asthma and COPD. At UBC, Rachel will help launch a new pulmonary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) program to study respiratory disease across the spectrum of young children, adults and the elderly and how respiratory disease changes or evolves over time.
Dr. Eddy has been awarded NSERC postdoctoral fellowship and MSFHR trainee awards and received NSERC master's and post-graduate scholarships during her PhD training. She has presented her work at international conferences (ATS, ISMRM, IWPFI) and received travel and presentation awards at each, recognizing the quality of her research abstracts and presentations.
