Pierre-André Gilormini

Dr. Pierre-André Gilormini is a Research Fellow working with Prof. David Vocadlo at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Pierre-André completed his PhD in France, mentored by Prof. Christophe Biot at the Institute for Structural and Functional Glycobiology in Lille. His doctoral studies focused on the creation of chemical tools and strategies to drive understanding of cell sialylation and its roles in cell physiology. Seeking leading training in the emergent area of Chemical Glycobiology, he joined Prof. David Vocadlo’s team in 2018. His current research focuses on high-throughput live-cell imaging methods to understand the role of genetic modulators of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase. His goal is to open up new leads to help create disease-modifying therapies for Parkinson Disease. Pierre-André is a recipient of a research fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. His professional aim is to establish himself as an independent academic researcher in the highly trans-disciplinary field of Chemical Biology and elucidate the functions of glycans in health and diseases.
