Muhammad Zohaib Anwar

Dr. Muhammad Zohaib Anwar is a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Infectious Disease Genomics and One Health (CIDGOH), Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University. The lab is headed by Dr. William Hsiao. His research interests pertain to the application of cutting-edge genomics and bioinformatics technologies to study infectious diseases caused by bacterial and viral pathogens.

Muhammad aims to extend his work done during the COVID-19 pandemic and bring a multidisciplinary approach to genomic epidemiology. He aims to develop and optimize methods to integrate genomics data with contextual datasets including epidemiological, policy, and border measures data to provide a more robust and comprehensive understanding of pathogens and measures applied in times of public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC).

This work will be done in collaboration with the Pandemics & Borders project. Muhammad completed his PhD as a Marie Curie PhD fellow at Aarhus University in Denmark with Professor Carsten Suhr Jacobsen.
