Dr. Mieke Koehoorn’s program of research is focused on a) data and methods development for surveillance of work-related injuries and illnesses, b) the epidemiology of work-related injury and illness, and c) policy and program evaluation to reduce work-related disability, including the evaluation of workers’ compensation policies and programs.
She is the co-lead of an innovative research agreement between the University of British Columbia and WorkSafeBC (the Workers’ Compensation Board) to engage in research of policy relevance to the compensation system. Koehoorn is the recent recipient of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Chair in Gender, Work and Health.
