Michelle Wong

Dr. Wong is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology, University of British Columbia, a clinical researcher at BC Renal, and a SFU-UBC Implementation Science Training Initiative Scholar. She is a recipient of the Marcia Bell Scholar Award and the UBC New Faculty Research Award. She was an inaugural cohort member of the International Society of Nephrology Emerging Leaders Program. She is an active member of the Canadian Society of Nephrology Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee and the Canadian Nephrology Trials Network Communications and Engagement Committee.

Dr. Wong’s research focuses on metabolic and cardiovascular complications of kidney disease. She has collaborated with Renal Research Institute, the Chronic Kidney Disease Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study, and the ISN Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic Initiative. She currently co-leads an interprofessional kidney nutrition research program in BC, in collaboration with renal dietitians. Her implementation science work is focused on optimizing potassium management in patients with cardio-kidney-metabolic syndrome, and improving follow-up care of patients after acute kidney injury.
