Dr. Megan MacPherson is a registered occupational therapist (BC) and an early career researcher working as an embedded principal investigator within the Virtual Health team at the Fraser Health Authority. Megan completed her PhD (2022) in health and exercise Sciences at UBC where she developed client-centered, theory-driven virtual diabetes prevention programming. As a registered clinician and behaviour change scientist, Megan’s work centers around the development and implementation of innovative virtual care solutions to improve the quality of care for patients, and to enhance the competency and capacity of clinicians.
Megan is uniquely positioned to address current challenges relating to healthcare access among British Columbians. She works to create practical evidence by working with patients, healthcare providers, and fellow researchers. Together, they aim to improve how virtual care is developed, put into practice, and assessed in community settings. Given the potential of virtual care to help reduce current and anticipated healthcare backlogs while maintaining a high-quality standard of care, her work is poised to make real change beyond traditional academic pathways.
