Marlena Ornowska

Marlena Ornowska is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. Her thesis includes completion of multi-centered clinical trial examining the use of 4% EDTA as a locking fluid for the prevention of central venous access device complications in adult critical care patients. Marlena’s research interests include reducing iatrogenic risk associated with ICU stayMarlena has previously worked on a series of preclinical experiments investigating the use of a novel medical device to prevent ventilator-induced multi-organ injury, and on a pilot project aimed at improving neurological outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients. Throughout her time in graduate school, Marlena has worked as a teaching assistant in Active Health: Behaviour and Promotion, and Inquiry and Measurement in Kinesiology classes. Marlena is the recipient of the CANTRAIN-CTTP & Michael Smith Health Research BC Doctoral Studentship, as well as the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology Graduate Fellowship Award.
