Dr. Lucia Nappi is a medical oncologist, clinician scientist, MD and PhD. She completed her medical school, medical oncology residency and PhD in Italy before moving to Vancouver where she completed a post-doctoral fellowship and a clinical research fellowship. She is part of the genitourinary medical oncology group at the BC Cancer – Vancouver Centre; holds a position as senior research scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre; and is an assistant professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences of the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Nappi leads a translational research lab at the Vancouver Prostate Centre and her main research interests are focused on the dissection of the molecular mechanisms of resistance to systemic therapy in genito-urinary malignancies and clinical validation of diagnostic/predictive/ prognostic biomarkers.
She is the co-PI of the SWOG S1823 clinical trial and the chair of the Canadian correspondent GCC.1 trial, activated by the Canadian Cancer Trials Group.
She has received the Michael Smith Foundation Research Trainee award (2015), the SWOG Young Investigator course (2017), the GUMOC and the Kidney Cancer Canada research awards (2018).
