Julianne Barry

Dr. Julianne Barry is an Indigenous scholar of Ojibwe ancestry. She obtained her BSc (Hons) in Sciences, MSc in Biology, and PhD is Interdisciplinary Studies: Health and Exercise Sciences and is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Her main research areas are in health sciences and Indigenous methodologies, with a focus on diabetes and obesity health and wellness in Urban Indigenous communities.

She currently holds a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Trainee Award and a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Fellowship: Research in First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit Health. She is a co-investigator on a Canadian Institutes of Health Research project entitled Building Indigenous Pathways for Diabetes and Obesity Prevention and Management with Urban and Rural Communities in BC.
