Jonathan Avery

I am a trained qualitative, mixed methods, and health services researcher specializing in psychosocial oncology and supportive cancer care. I received my PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Ottawa in 2018, where my doctoral research examined post-treatment care for head and neck cancer patients through a psychosocial rehabilitation lens.

From 2018 to 2023, I completed two post-doctoral fellowships—at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (2018-2020) and the University of British Columbia (2020-2023)—focused on palliative care and cancer rehabilitation to better support young adults living with and beyond cancer.

As Manager, Provincial Programs, Supportive Care at BC Cancer, I collaborate with patient and caregiver partners, as well as cancer care providers, to foster multidisciplinary teams and advance supportive cancer care programming and services across the province.
