Dr. Jennifer Jakobi is the principal investigator for the Aging-in-Place Research Cluster that aims to support the needs and choice of older women and men to age in place. In Jennifer’s lab her basic research program centres upon identifying the contributions of motor neuron activity in maintaining force control in women and men (NSERC). This work informs the design of her applied research program ensuring that there are forward-thinking ways to apply physical activity programs that meet the diverse needs of all older women and men (CIHR, SSHRC). She is the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering for the BC/Yukon Region. Through this program she will determine and apply knowledge of positive factors that contribute to recruiting and retaining women and underrepresented persons in the sciences. Jennifer has an established reputation of building collaborative teams found on respectful and meaningful community relationships.
