Dr. Janice Leung is a respirologist at St. Paul’s Hospital whose research interests have focused on the increased prevalence and incidence of lung diseases like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Her laboratory has investigated disturbances in the airway epithelium in HIV using multiple sequencing platforms (microbiome, methylation, and transcriptome) and in vitro cell work.
Leung’s work has been supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), BC Lung Association, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, and Genome BC.
