Dr. Ingrid Jarvis (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Drs. Michael Brauer and Lorien Nesbitt. She completed a PhD in Forestry at the University of British Columbia, where her CIHR-funded research explored the health benefits of urban green space across the life course. Her work was honoured with the Best Doctoral Dissertation in Forestry and the UBC Dissertation Prize for Natural Sciences and Engineering.
Ingrid’s postdoctoral research focuses on understanding the relationship between residential green space and cognitive decline and dementia among middle-aged and older adults. Her work aims to advance existing knowledge by studying the health impacts of different green space types and forms of contact, as well as exploring potential pathways linking green space to health outcomes. Her findings are intended to identify green space characteristics supportive of healthy cognitive aging, which may be used to inform urban planning and policies to improve population health.
