Blood contacting devices are extensively used around world. For example, in Canada, approximately 300,000 patients with end-stage renal failure require hemodialysis treatment every 2 to 3 days, which exposes the patients to the synthetic dialysis membrane and extra-corporeal plastic tubes. Dr. Ji’s research is primarily concerned with exploring changes in protein formation induced by surfaces, alongside the creation of associated detec tion tools, and guiding innova tive advancements in hemocom patible materials.
