Dr. Erica Wang is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Cardiac Surgery at St. Paul’s Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Her clinical training includes a Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree from the University of Alberta, Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency certificate from Alberta Health Services (Edmonton Zone), and a post-baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UBC. She has been involved in clinical research since 2009.
Dr. Wang’s research program aims to optimize pharmacotherapy for patients after cardiac surgery. There is a paucity of randomized controlled trials and high-quality observational trials in this patient population, especially with regard to anti-thrombotic agents. Her research aims to bridge some substantial gaps in the literature with regard to optimal anti-thrombotic selection for patients after cardiac surgery. The results of Dr. Wang’s research has the potential to help inform clinicians prescribing, change guideline recommendations, and have a positive effect on patient quality of life and clinically-relevant outcomes.
