Dr. Elena Ivanova received her PhD in clinical psychology at McGill University in 2016. She is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences and holds a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her general research interests are to create and implement community-based lifestyle change programs. She is passionate about implementing chronic disease prevention programs for the general population and also tailoring the programs for hard to reach populations (geographically) and underserved communities (e.g. ethnically diverse, people living with a mental health diagnosis).
Ivanova’s current work is focused on modifying, implementing, and assessing the outcomes of a diabetes-prevention program that is implemented in a YMCA center in Kelowna (BC). She has extensive training in clinical psychology in the area of chronic disease prevention, weight management, and providing therapy to adults affected with mood and anxiety disorders. Ivanova has secured nearly one million dollars in national and international grant funding as a PI or co-PI.
