Dr. Denise Jaworsky is a General Internal Medicine physician in the rural community of Cranbrook/ʔa.kisk̓aqǂiʔit (territory of the Ktunaxa Peoples). She completed her fellowship in General Internal Medicine and the Clinician Investigator Program at the University of British Columbia followed by her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on health equity and community engagement in research. She is an advocate for improving access to healthcare in rural BC and her research program aims to build a rural clinical trial program in Cranbrook and study its implementation with the goal of generating knowledge that can be used by other rural communities to increase access to clinical trials for their populations. She is also the Division Head for General Internal Medicine – Community at the University of British Columbia where she supports faculty across the province to provide medical education opportunities in community settings.
