Catherine Worthington has 25 years of experience working in partnership with communities impacted by HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBI) to conduct community-based research (CBR) around service needs, access, implementation and impact. She has been part of several national research networks that work to address community priorities around STBBI, as well as training initiatives in STBBI CBR. Dr. Worthington has a long-standing partnership with PAN, a service network that works to strengthen BC’s collective action on STBBI and harm reduction. Together with other community partners and people with lived and living experience of HIV/STBBI and drug use, they have conducted research with people living with HIV in BC about housing issues and needs; stigma and discrimination experiences and actions; program theory for inclusive and more culturally safe service models for STBBI/harm reduction services (“Making It Work”); and STBBI and harm reduction service needs for small urban, rural and remote communities in BC.
