Dr. Alissa Greer is an assistant professor in the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University. She received her MPH from the University of Toronto and PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies (Nursing and Public Health) from the University of British Columbia. Alissa draws on her background and training in public health to provide unique perspectives and approaches to studying social, health, and criminological problems.
Alissa’s research program centers on drug policy, with a focus on decriminalization and policing, health equity, and qualitative and community-engaged research methods. She works closely with community groups, advocacy organizations, and government bodies to apply research findings to real-world practice, advocacy, and policy changes. Alissa has collaborated closely with the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research for over 15 years and the BC Centre for Disease Control for over five years.
