Adrian Lai

Dr. Adrian Lai is a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre. His research uses musculoskeletal modelling and in-vivo measurement techniques to understand muscle function and structure in healthy and clinical populations such as people suffering from stroke.

Adrian was awarded a MSFHR Trainee Award in 2019 to help develop diagnostic tools that can be used in clinical practice to identify movement deficiencies during walking post-stroke and associate them with clinical measures of function and spasticity before and after common interventions such as Botox. He hopes these tools will facilitate greater use of personalised therapies and assist people with stroke to walk independently again. Adrian obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
