Andrew Roth

Dr. Andrew Roth is an assistant professor in the Departments of Computer Science and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a scientist at the British Columbia Cancer Agency (BC Cancer). He received his PhD in Bioinformatics from UBC. After his PhD Dr. Roth completed a fellowship at the University of Oxford working jointly in the Department of Statistics, Big Data Institute for Health Research and Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.

Dr. Roth has recently started a group at BC Cancer focused on developing computational and statistical methods analyzing high throughput biological data. His group is particularly interested in methods to integrate multiple types of single cell measurements from cancer cells to determine the evolutionary history of the cells. Working closely with clinicians and biologist at BC Cancer Dr. Roth is applying these methods to study problems such as identifying predictors of disease progression for indolent lymphomas, mapping the development of ovarian cancers from the earliest stages and studying therapeutic resistance in breast cancer. Dr. Roth was awarded an MSFHR Scholar award in 2019.
