Dr. Marianne Vidler is as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and leader in global maternal health research. Her focus is on developing, testing and implementing new knowledge that will reduce the unacceptable impacts of life-threatening pregnancy complications on mothers, newborns, their families, and society.
Marianne’s research and teaching aims to improve our understanding of the causes and management of pregnancy complications in resource-limited settings. Mothers and their babies in these setting bear most of the burden of death and illness related to pregnancy complications, yet knowledge about the pathways to pregnancy complications in these areas are lacking.
