Amanda Fuchsia Howard

Dr. Howard is a Registered Nurse and Associate Professor at The University of British Columbia School of Nursing. In her research, she examines: 1) the health service needs of high-risk survivors of acute life-threatening illness, specifically critical illness and cancer, and 2) the information and supportive care needs of people with endometriosis-related chronic pain. Dr. Howard promotes socially responsive scholarship, generating evidence of survivor perspectives and priorities to enhance the accessibility and quality of health services and supports. Her research program includes an integrative knowledge translation and patient-oriented thread of co-designing with clinicians and patients, innovative and engaging way of creating and sharing evidence, including digital innovations. The overarching aim of Dr. Howard’s research is to generate patient- and family- perspective evidence of their health and disability challenges as the foundation to designing and evaluating patient-centred healthcare and support to address the long-term burden of illness.
