Dr. Zach Morse is an immunologist with a focus in using interdisciplinary approaches to understand, prevent, and treat human disease. In early 2025, he joined the lab of Dr. Laura Evgin as a postdoctoral fellow at the BC Cancer Research Centre. There, he is exploring genetic engineering to improve CAR T cell immunotherapies to treat aggressive lymphomas that resist conventional treatments. He received his PhD from the University of British Columbia where he researched how viral infections and microbiome dysbiosis trigger the onset of type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases. This background in immune dysregulation now informs his approach to engineering more effective cancer immunotherapies. Throughout his graduate studies, he received several honors including the Killam Graduate Teaching Award and UBC Four-Year Fellowship, and served as President of the Microbiology and Immunology Graduate Student Society. Prior, he earned his BSc (Biochemistry) and MSc (Cell & Molecular Biology) degrees from Youngstown State University.
