Dr. Travis Salway (formerly Travis Salway Hottes) is a social epidemiologist whose research aims to understand health inequities experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer people. Salway is a Banting and MSFHR Research Trainee at the UBC School of Population and Public Health and the BC Centre for Disease Control, where he works with public health administrators and clinicians to find health service solutions to elevated rates of depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, and substance use among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer Canadians.
Salway’s training spans social work at the University of California at Berkeley (2002), clinical epidemiology at McGill University (2008), and public health epidemiology at the University of Toronto (2017). He is a long-standing volunteer at the Community-Based Research Centre for Gay Men’s Health and the co-founder of the Vancouver-based LGBTQ2 Mental Health Roundtable.
