Tashmeeta Ahad

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Translational Photomedicine Research at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Department of Dermatology and Skin Science and a clinician-scientist working with the Photomedicine Institute, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute.

I completed my medical training at the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford and dermatology residency in Manchester, UK. I subsequently completed my fellowship in Photobiology and Laser Medicine at the University of British Columbia.

I was awarded the Geoffrey Dowling Fellowship by the British Association of Dermatologists. I have received grants from the Canadian Dermatology Foundation/Canadian Institutes of Health Research, including the inaugural Dr. Mercy Alexis Research Grant in Skin of Colour Dermatology 2023 by the Canadian Dermatology Foundation.

My clinical and research interests include translation of optical biopsy techniques for monitoring skin cancer treatment, study of photosensitivity disorders and use of laser, photodynamic therapy and phototherapy to treat skin conditions.
