Dr. Sharma obtained his PhD in 2018 from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani-campus, Rajasthan, India. He is currently working as a Post Doctoral Fellow at University of Victoria in Dr. Craig Brown’s laboratory. His primary interest is to study how diabetes alters the neurological function. As a Post doc, Dr. Sharma is studying how diabetes affects the rates of capillary obstruction and/or pruning.
Further, he will focus to elucidate mechanistic understanding of how obstructions are cleared. Dr. Sharma has been awarded with many prestigious awards including Michael Smith Research Trainee Award (2019), BITS Pilani Institute PhD Fellowship (2013-2018), Young Scientist Award (2015), PP Suryakumari Gold medal Award (2014) for his commendable work. In addition, Dr. Sharma has received travel grants to attend Alzheimer Association Conference in London (2017), Annual meeting of Society for Neuroscience-2017 (USA), Biennial meeting of International Society for Neurochemistry meeting in France (2017).
