Sandeep Dhillon

Dr. Sandeep Dhillon is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, working with Dr. Kristen Haase. She completed her PhD in Gerontology at Simon Fraser University, where she used a community-engaged approach to evaluate a culturally adapted health promotion program for the mental health and well-being of older Punjabi women in British Columbia. Her current research explores how South Asian older adults with cancer and chronic conditions engage in self-management, and how cultural beliefs, social structures, and systemic barriers shape their experiences. Using qualitative methods, intersectionality, and participatory approaches, she works closely with community partners to co-develop knowledge that is culturally relevant and actionable. Dr. Dhillon’s work aims to reduce health disparities and support culturally safe models of care for underrepresented older adults in BC and beyond.
