Samantha Dawson

Dr. Samantha Dawson is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the director of the Sexuality and Well-being (SWell) Lab. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in 2018. Before joining UBC in 2020 she was a SSHRC Banting and IWK Health Centre postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University.

Dawson’s multimethod research program focuses on identifying intra- and interpersonal processes contributing to the onset and persistent of sexual (dys)function in individuals and couples. A complementary goal of her research is to use these processes to develop evidence-based accessible psychological interventions for sexual dysfunction. Her research program is unique in that it involves experimental laboratory-based research using various sexual psychophysiological measures (e.g. eye tracking, genital plethysmography), as well as more ecologically-valid daily experience and longitudinal methodologies.
