I launched my graduate studies in September 2024 and have been using mass spectrometry to perform qualitative and quantitative glycomics studies of the protective gut mucus of animal models of colitis. We hypothesize the glycome holds information regarding the progress or remission of disease and can be used to test the effectiveness of treatments such as genetically modified microbiota on diseases such as colitis.
