Paweena Sukhawathanakul is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology in the Lifespan Health and Development Stream at the University of Victoria. As a developmental researcher specializing in child and adolescent mental health, she is interested in how we can apply research on social and emotional development into school-based mental health promotion programs, with a particular focus on promoting inclusive environments that nurture healthy peer relationships. Her research has focused on preventing peer victimization in elementary schools, as well as reducing substance-use related harms among adolescents.
