Dr. Marta Ruiz-Algueró is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of professor Helen Tremlett. She has a medical degree from the University Complutense of Madrid, Spain, and is a clinical pharmacologist specialist. She has been nominated as a medical advisor expert by the European Medicines Agency and the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Care Devices since 2004. In the last seven years she has developed her career as a member of the CIBERINFEC research group (National Centre of Epidemiology, Health Institute Carlos III) where she has completed a PhD in chronic disease surveillance and pharmacoepidemiology at the University Autonomous of Madrid, Spain (December 2022).
Marta´s research focuses on further defining the multiple sclerosis prodrome, which is the time before the disease’s first neurological symptom manifests and during which patients may experience subtle, ill-defined symptoms that prompt them to seek care years before the disease is actually diagnosed.
