Mahmoud Pouladi

Dr. Mahmoud Pouladi received his B.Sc. (2001) and M.Sc. (2004) from McMaster University, and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia (2010). In 2012, Dr. Pouladi joined the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (Singapore) where he was promoted to Principal Investigator. He also held a faculty position at the Department of Medicine, the National University of Singapore. In 2017, Dr. Pouladi was selected for the Interstellar Initiative, a joint program between the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development and the New York Academy of Sciences, that recognizes “the world’s most promising Early Career Investigators in the fields of cancer, regenerative medicine, and neuroscience”. In 2020, he joined the UBC as an Associate Professor of Medical Genetics and BCCHRI as an Investigator.

Dr. Pouladi’s research aims to understand how discrete genetic factors contribute to the development of neurological disorders. His lab develops isogenic human pluripotent stem cells and transgenic animals to model disease, with the goal of delineating novel approaches to influence outcomes for neurological disorders and in particular dementia and intellectual disability.
