Mahdokht Akbari Taemeh

Dr. Akbari is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria collaborating with RepliCel Company, where she develops plant-based biomaterials to enable scalable cell expansion for regenerative medicine. Her work integrates sustainable plant-based polymers with innovative fabrication strategies to improve the performance and accessibility of therapeutic cell manufacturing demonstrating how technological innovation can enhance both human health and environmental sustainability. Mahdokht completed her PhD in Biomaterials, Biomedical Engineering at Laval University, where she engineered hydrogel-based technologies including 3D-printed cell-laden phantoms and polymer gel dosimeters to enhance precision in eye cancer brachytherapy. Her interdisciplinary expertise in biomaterials spans hydrogel formulation, 3D bioprinting, bone tissue engineering, and wound dressing. Mahdokht is now applying her scientific knowledge and experiences to advance sustainable biomaterials and innovative technologies that support the future of regenerative medicine.
