Kara Flanagan

Kara Flanagan is a PhD candidate in the Education Studies Program, Department of Curriculum & Instruction, University of Victoria. Kara is a skilled researcher and curriculum theorist. Kara’s research focuses on creating educational interventions to mitigate anxiety without the use of pharmaceutical and psychological interventions. Kara’s research focuses on behavioural work founded in theories of embodiment and education to support performers in reducing anxiety and enhancing their performance delivery. She is interested in how interdisciplinary education can support mental health and wellbeing for student and professional performers. As a BC-based practitioner, one of her research goals is to provide BC students and professionals with support in their performance work. Kara has won the University of Victoria President’s Research Award and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council award for her doctoral work.
