Jia Zhao

With my PhD study at Peking University followed by a one-year postgraduate training at the University of Oxford, I am trained in islet studies, stem cell differentiation and advanced microscopic imaging as well as high throughput screening. Benefiting from prior training experiences, I have developed keen interests in islet physiology, diabetes and stem cell-based cell replacement therapy, and have committed myself as an independent researcher in diabetes research.

To further advance my career development, I chose Dr. Kieffer’s lab for my postdoctoral training. My research interests are now focused on protocol development for generating functionally mature insulin-secreting islet clusters from stem cells in vitro.
