Dr. Jerry Leung is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia under Drs. Pieter Cullis and Christian Kastrup. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2023 also at the University of British Columbia, where his research focused on optimizing lipid nanoparticles (LNP) to engineer platelets and enhance their function for better hemorrhage management. He was awarded the University Dissertation Prize for his thesis research, which he aims to expand upon during his tenure as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow by further developing these systems to create improved blood transfusion products that are clinically compatible. His other research interests include understanding the design parameters governing the efficacy of lipid nanoparticle systems in order to rationally design LNP with increased potency for a variety of applications. Outside of research, Dr. Leung enjoys traveling and partaking in new experiences both locally and internationally.
