Jeremy Wulff

Dr. Jeremy Wulff is an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria (UVic). In addition to holding a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Career Scholar Award, Wulff is a Canada Research Chair in Bioactive Small Molecule Synthesis, Tier II; and director of chemistry for the Medical Sciences Program at UVic.

Wulff received his initial training in synthetic organic chemistry during his PhD with Thomas Back at the University of Calgary before expanding into chemical biology in his post-doctoral studies with Andrew Myers at Harvard University. In his independent research, Wulff looks to bridge these two fields by engineering molecular rigidity to more effectively control biological systems.

Current research interests include the development of selective inhibitors of viral, bacterial, and mammalian neuraminidase enzymes to target influenza and prostate cancer; the creation of selective disruptors of the PD1-PDL1 interaction to treat ovarian and pancreatic cancers; and the design of natural product-inspired dissociative inhibitors to fight drug resistance in HIV
