Dr. Ivan Torres is a clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia, an investigator with the British Columbia Mental Health and Substance Use Services Research Institute, and a clinical neuropsychologist with the BC Psychosis Program at UBC Hospital.
He has broad research interests in neuropsychological functioning in severe mental illness including psychotic and mood disorders, and is affiliated with the BC Psychosis Program and the Mood Disorders Centre at UBC.
Specific research interests include assessment and study of objective and subjective cognitive deficits in complex psychiatric populations, as well as utilization of clinically derived data to investigate cognitive difficulties in individuals presenting with treatment resistant psychosis.
His goals are to integrate clinical neuropsychological service delivery with clinical research in order to optimize assessment, treatment, and prognosis in individuals presenting with persistent psychosis. He is also actively involved in training and supervision of practicum students and psychology residents within the BC Psychosis Program.
